I've heard newborn babies wailin' like a mournin' dove

Yesterday I hosted a baby shower for my daughter-in-law, Hiba. She was so surprised! The house was full of guests, some of which she hadn't seen in awhile. There were lots of cute gifts and of course, way too much food. Lots of clean up, thank you so much for all your help Fran and Hiba! Hiba is due at the end of the month, none of us can agree on whether it's a boy or girl. Right now I think it's a girl, but a couple of months ago I thought it was a boy. Soon we'll know!

We were in the middle of another horendous winter storm last night (and today) with white outs and plenty of snow. I heard today the roads were closed around here so I'm glad all the guests got out when they did. The snow on our back deck is almost up to my hips! Can you imagine? It has snowed here now in some capacity for 23 days straight.

My girlfriend, Fran, stayed overnight and we sat up chatting by the fire until 2 am. We suffered all night through the sounds of male snoring and were up early. Today we are both very tired.

Today is Superbowl Sunday and I made chili, a tradition. It's simmering now. Rick and I won't be having any company today, which is unusual for the Superbowl but the quiet time is well received by both of us. Rick was supposed to go play a game of Texas Hold Her in Waterloo but the roads are closed so he's staying in with me. I'm looking forward to seeing Prince at half time and then I'll probably hit the sack!

Tomorrow we must start getting ready for our trip to Cancun, we leave in 4 more big sleeps :-)
